Hanacpachap cussicuinin
for choir with four male voices and percussion

Hanacpachap cussicuinin, which means Joy of Heaven in English, is a processional song of the Peruvian Catholic ritual of the 17th century. It is the first polyphony in Quechua published in 1631 by the Franciscan friar Juan Pérez Bocanegra. The author of the song remains uncertain: it could be the monk himself or an Amerindian belonging to the choir of the cathedral of Lima.
