Cantique de Jean Racine
for choir with four male voices, piano and string orchestra

Written at the age of 19 by Fauré after the Gregorian hymn "Consors Paterni Luminis". Dedicated to César Franck, the score won first prize for composition at the Ecole Niedermeyer in Paris, where Fauré was a student.
