David Hogan was the choirmaster of the International Gay Choir of Paris (CIGAP), the original name of Mélo'Men, from September 1995 to July 1996. David and Jean-Paul Galland, a baritone from the choir, died on 17 July 1996 in the explosion of TWA Flight 800, on their way home to Paris from GALA Choruses Festival in Tampa, Florida, where CIGAP had performed along with about 100 other choruses from around the world during the week of 6 to 13 July. This concert was organised to honour his memory.
