Berlioz had this choir performed in Paris on 12 November 1850 under the name of Pierre Ducré, allegedly the music master at the Sainte-Chapelle in Paris in 1679! Following its success Berlioz revealed that he was in fact the author of the work and included it in his oratorio The Childhood of Christ published in 1854.
